Continental started in 1970 as a technologically oriented company specializing
in immunohematology and manufacturing base materials and semi-processed
products for the pharmaceutical industry. The original company was incorporated
under the name Continental Blood Components, Inc.
The next year, April 1971, Continental received its first Federal license from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Thus, Continental, which since its inception had served primarily the State of Florida, was now able to provide its services nationwide. Over the next several years Continental expanded its product line, concentrating on the processing of human blood components for the diagnostics industry. Today, Continental provides a complete line of quality therapeutic and diagnostic raw materials which it produces, tests and distributes worldwide.
Continental blood donors represent a healthy cross-section of the community. Many of them return several times each year to donate. All donors are screened for properties of special interest; those identified as having specific blood characteristics are invited to participate in special donor programs. Our in-house licensed clinical laboratory is capable of performing specialized testing in accordance with customer requirements.
